Built for UK landlords.
By someone who gets it.

Most MTD software is built for accountants. LandlordSorted was built for the landlord who manages their own tax and just wants it done properly.

The problem we set out to fix

When HMRC announced Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, the existing software landscape had two options: enterprise accountancy platforms with features no landlord needs and price tags to match, or consumer tools that did not connect directly to HMRC at all.

The DIY landlord — managing 1–4 properties, filing their own self-assessment, running their tax on a spreadsheet — had no good option. They were expected to either pay an accountant £200+ per year or wrestle with software designed for a 40-person finance team.

LandlordSorted is the tool we wanted to exist. Simple enough that you do not need any training. Specific enough that every feature is relevant to a residential UK landlord. Priced at £49/year, which is less than the HMRC-estimated average compliance cost of £115/year.

What we are building toward

Version 1.0 launched as an MTD submission tool. Version 2.0 adds the Rent Ledger, Compliance Certificate Tracker, and Running Tax Estimate — turning LandlordSorted from a quarterly-use tool into something landlords use every month.

Version 3.0 will introduce read-only accountant access, Open Banking integration for income reconciliation, and document storage for certificates. The goal is to make LandlordSorted the single dashboard that runs a landlord's compliance year-round.

Our principles

Landlord-first

Every feature is designed for the person managing their own properties — not their accountant.

Radical simplicity

If a feature confuses a non-technical user, it needs to be redesigned, not documented.

Regulatory honesty

We tell users clearly what we are connected to, what is pending, and what their estimates cannot account for.

Regulatory transparency

We believe in being upfront about what the product can and cannot do.

HMRC API

Sandbox connected. Production credentials submitted to HMRC — approval pending (6–8 weeks). Users are told clearly during submission.

Tax estimates

Running estimates are calculated using your logged figures and your chosen tax band. They are not a formal tax calculation and do not account for personal allowance or other income.

Certificate tracking

Reminder dates and certificate types are user-entered. LandlordSorted does not verify certificate validity with any external authority.

Data security

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not sell user data. We do not share financial data with any party other than HMRC via the official API.
